Way back in the spring of 1976, Ken Linn started writing fiction in his last semester at his Pennsylvania hometown college, Lock Haven State. Soon after, he launched what would become a forty-year career of teaching high school mathematics in both public and private schools in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia and Maryland.

But over the course of those years, he never gave up on his desire to write. He enrolled in writing classes at various institutions, ranging from Virginia Commonwealth University to the University of Delaware. The positive comments and strong encouragement he received from all  those teachers was a key factor in his sticking with it over the years, as he continued to pen short fiction, as well as a novel.

After finally retiring from teaching, he took up writing full time. His first professionally published short story, "Stray" appeared in the January/February 2021 issue of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. The story went on to earn a spot on the list of Other Distinguished Mystery and Suspense of 2021, in the 2022 edition of The Best American Mystery and Suspense anthology. His second story for EQMM, "A Flash of Headlights" (May/June 2023) tied for ninth place in the magazine's annual Readers Awards.

His short stories, featuring math teacher and private investigator, Pete Barrow, have appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, and the first Pete Barrow novel is forthcoming from publisher Level Best Books.
